As a value based school you are no doubt aware that in recent months we have been hi-lighting values such as, kindness, generosity, tolerance and gratitude. With this in mind we want to share some news that we can all be grateful for. The children have enjoyed various fundraising days this term, including
Children In Need Day which raised a fantastic £851 through donations for
wearing pyjamas and the cake sale. We were also able to give a large amount
of food to the Hillin
Today Key stage 2 watched a performance from a visiting theatre company! The performance addressed different types of bullying. Children also learned how to recognise what bullying is and different ways they can tackle it. Most importantly, the performers discussed the importance of valuing our differences and showing respect. All of the children who had the chance to see the performance thoroughly enjoyed it!
Thank you to everyone who donated plastic for our ‘Recycling’ project. The children have made fantastic sculptures around the theme of ‘Under the Sea’ which were judged by The Pantry and Bidfood Teams in a special assembly today. We are pleased to announce that the winners were Lion Class who made an amazing mermaid. The children also had the chance to learn about recyling from our guest speakers.
To commemorate the centenary of the end of the First World War, some of our Children collaborated with the staff at the Battle of Britain bunker to create a special art work. They painted poppies and cut individual leaves, after which they wrote the names of all the local soldiers who died in WW1 from Uxbridge. In the coming weeks more children will be able to visit the artwork. In addition to the artwork, around the school children have learnt about the significance of armis
As part of their topic, reception children had the chance to barbecue bananas! Each of the classes beforehand decided on and wrote out several safety instructions and rules to make sure that everyone was safe All of the children enjoyed the experience and had their roasted fruit to enjoy afterwards!
Wishing a very Happy Diwali to all our families celebrating today! Throughout the school the children got to learn about the celebration itself and participated in various activities such as making divas, exploring traditional dress and even bollywood dancing.
